A Freestyle Jeet Kune Do™ Club

A club is a group that trains together under the Freestyle Jeet Kune Do™ name: classes, sparring and preparation for amateur competition. Clubs are named by city, for example Freestyle Jeet Kune Do™ Club – Barcelona.

Who can lead a club

Club coaches are welcomed on the basis of their martial arts experience, their moral character, and their commitment to the mutual welfare of the individual and the global community. A background in any range of combat, for example kicking, punching, clinch or grappling, is welcome. An exclusively Jeet Kune Do background is not required.

What a club agrees to

• Follow the Freestyle Jeet Kune Do™ rules and code of conduct
• Train with safe, progressive sparring and proper protective equipment
• Follow local laws on combat sports, safety and insurance
• Use the Freestyle Jeet Kune Do™ name and logo only with the approval of the Founder & Director

Host an event

The rules are written so that any organizer can run a Freestyle JKD event safely. Judo, sambo and wrestling gyms are ideal hosts.

• Competition area on judo tatami or firm mats at least 5 cm thick
• At least one referee and one judge; one referee and three judges recommended
• A qualified medical professional or certified first aider present throughout
• Signed waivers and medical declarations for every athlete
• Weigh-in on the day of the event

How to start

1. Read the rules and the code of conduct.
2. Write to us with a short description of your martial arts background and where you would train or host.
3. Once approved by the Founder & Director, your club or event is listed on this site.
